Metaphorically, the Sun is God

Everything is Solar-Powered

Shamash (Utu)

Shamash was the Sumerian and Babylonian Sun God. He journeys across the sky by day pulled in a chariot. By night he crosses the underworld.

Baal (Phoenician)

Son of El, Baal was the Sun God of the Canaanites and Phoenicians, whose worship spread to the ancient Jews. In the Bible, Baal is also known as Beelzebub.

"It would require about 333,000 Earths to equal the Suns mass; but more than a million Earths could fit inside because the Suns volume is greater since solar matter is about one-fourth as dense as earthly matter. About 109 Earths could fit side by side across the diameter of the Sun. Although the energy of the Sun comes from deep within, the light we see comes from an outer shell, called the photosphere, just 185 miles (300 km) thick. It is only through this outer layer that light, heat, and other types of radiation can escape. The photosphere glows because it is heated to nearly 5800K (Kelvin) by the nuclear reactions in the core. Above the photosphere is the chromosphere. This is about 3,000 miles (5,000 km) thick and at its base has a temperature of approximately 4000K." (Unknown Source)

The Sun is the SOURCE of ALL LIFE

"You may never have thought of your body as being solar-powered. But the energy you get from food actually comes from the Sun by way of green plants. Grass, for example, converts the energy in sunlight to food--chemical energy--in a process called photosynthesis. The grass stores this chemical energy in its cells. When cattle eat the grass, their bodies use some of the chemical energy in the grass to grow. Then, the energy passes along to you in milk or burgers." (Earth Explorer - 02-01-1995 "Sun's Starring Role")

"Petroleum, too, is a product of the Sun. When marine plants and animals die, their remains sink to the bottom of the sea. Over millions of years, a combination of bacterial action and geologic pressure (the weight of everything above) transforms those organisms into petroleum. The petroleum and the chemical energy stored in it is left behind under newly deposited soil and rock. The petroleum can be refined into gasoline as well as diesel and aviation fuel (not to mention a variety of other chemical compounds)." (ibid)

Out of slime: Did life begin 3.5-8 billion years ago in pond scum or was it incubated on Earth after arriving here from elsewhere? The primordial soup or ooze theory suggests it began in water where a combination of chemicals from the environment (or from a meteor) met some force or energy resulting in the creation of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins, and this evolved into all the species now and previously which lived on Earth.

Einstein's theory of relativity tells us that energy equals mass (matter) times the speed of light (186,000 miles per second) squared.

For the first couple of billion years after the Big Bang, hydrogen was the only matter; that is, it was the only atom or element to exist in the universe. Pursuant to the Law of Gravity, all matter is attracted by all other matter. The expanding cloud of hydrogen gas caused individual atoms to gravitate towards one another. Hydrogen atoms were both expanding into space and being drawn towards each other. The force of gravity always increases toward an objects center and all the hydrogen atoms collapsed upon itself, the weight of which created great tremendous pressure at the gaseous cloud cores until hydrogen fused together forming a heavier atom called helium, the second stable element to form in the universe.

Not all the hydrogen is fused and some of it falls or radiates away as heat and light.

When they hydrogen fuses it becomes a star, which is how our own Sun was formed. After millions of years of hydrogen atoms fusing, it begins to fuse its heavier element, helium. When helium atoms fuse they are transformed in an even heavier element which is carbon. Newer and heavier atoms are then created in the star's core. When the star becomes unstable after billions of years after it has depleted fusible atoms and it explodes in a supernova. The supernovas then disperse all the atoms into the expanding universe. The star stuff of exploding supernovas is what we are made of.

But, if you have to believe in God, why not the Sun? Of course the Sun is not concerned with anyone individually and sacrificing chickens to the "Sun God" won't bring you any special favors. About 10 billion years ago our star, the Sun, was born out of rotating clouds of gases condensed by gravity and hydrogen fused by great pressure - about 5 billion years after the Big Bang. Most of the gas was hydrogen from stars already born and died and the heavier elements which were in the periphery clustered and consolidated becoming mineral clusters which would revolve around the new Sun. A mineral cluster which orbits the Sun we call planets and mineral clusters which orbit planets we call moons. A star with a cluster of planets we call a solar system. Our solar system consists of 8 planets and the Sun. There are a lot of moons. All planets are moving in the same direction around the Sun.

Without the Sun there is no life. Without the Sun we would all perish. We are all made of star stuff, minerals from a "Supernova." Repeat after me, "The SUN is my creator." Moses came out of Egypt. Who worshiped the Sun God (RA)? The Egyptians.

The Pharaoh in Egypt claimed to be descended from Ra, the Sun. So when a descendant of God orders his subjects to build a huge 137 meter pyramid with little more than sweat, muscle, blood and some ramps and chisels, that is what they do for most of their time.

"Egypt During the New Kingdom, the cult of the Sun god Ra became increasingly important until it evolved into the uncompromising monotheism of Pharaoh Akhenaten (Amenhotep IV, 1364-1347 B.C.). According to the cult, Ra created himself from a primeval mound in the shape of a pyramid and then created all other gods. Thus, Ra was not only the Sun god, he was also the universe, having created himself from himself. Ra was invoked as Aten or the Great Disc that illuminated the world of the living and the dead." The Egyptians were not the only ones to worship the Sun. So did the Incas, Maya, Celts, Persians, Greeks, Babylonians, Druids, Hindus, and most of Native Americans.

A little over 5 billion years after the "Sun" was born planet Earth was formed as a large ball of molten minerals with no atmosphere. The Earth grew in mass as it was bombarded by asteroids and meteorites. Many meteorites carried trapped gases which became molten minerals when that trapped gas was released by the impact. The Earth's gravitational field pulled these gases into a gaseous barrier around the planet. This became Earth's atmosphere and meteorites could no longer easily impact the surface and the friction of the gaseous particles in the Earth's atmosphere would cause meteorites to burn up as the Earth was no longer subjected to these heat emitting impacts. The Earth began to cool.

Hydrogen and oxygen from meteorites were trapped in Earth's atmosphere. They bonded and formed water. In a billion years two-thirds of the Earth became covered in this water and 1/3rd is a hard mineral shell. For the next billion years various "carbon-based" chemicals was brewed in these primordial seas and trillions of molecular combinations emerged. Live emerged.

Everything on Earth, the 3rd planet from the Sun, that is alive uses energy which comes directly or indirectly from the Sun and needs water. Everything is solar powered, including you and me.
